'From rail yard to a home, together the entire way': Bonded rescue doggie duo who stole Chicago's hearts gets adopted by family who refuses to separate them and their beautiful brotherhood

What Bird and Dee have is very special - they bonded through their very survival. Dumped near the same rail yard, these two doggos found each other when they had nothing else. The rescue that saved them quickly understood that they were inseparable, and while adorable, they knew it would make them that much harder to adopt.

When we speak about bonded pairs, we're usually speaking about cats. Dogs, however, are more socially flexible and can adapt more easily to different groups because they are more human-oriented. That doesn't mean that dogs can't form incredible bonds with other doggos, though, and this concept couldn't be clearer in Bird and Dee.

This rescue doggie duo gained a lot of media attention after their rescue because their love for each other was impawssible to miss. They drank from the same water bowl, slept on top of one another, and played together 24/7. The rescue organization, Anti-Cruelty, knew that they needed to be adopted together. That made their process to find a furrever home challenging though - how many people come ready to adopt two full-grown dogs at the same time?

Lucky for Bird and Dee, a family with 4 other dogs saw them and knew they would be the pawfect fit into their pupper pack. They came in knowing that they came as a pair, and left with two happy doggos ready to be loved, cuddled, and doted on for the rest of their lives.

Bird and Dee were found abandoned living near a rail line with only each other to keep them company. Our humane investigation team scooped them up to safety and brought them in so we could help find them a forever home! Since coming into our care, it has been abundantly clear that these two perfect little pooches are a bonded pair. Because of their bonded status, it is important that these two go home together. Cute and cuddly, these two are sure to win your heart in an instant!

In our dream scenario, we live on a ranch somewhere with hundreds of acres of open land where we can adopt all the doggos who need a home. In this case, we would adopt Bird and Dee without a second of hesitation. The reality is, though, that we live in a two-bedroom apartment with one dog, and two extra dogs just don't fit in there. We're happy that the family who adopted them is one that loves dogs and appreciates their beautiful brotherhood.
It's not just about appreciation, in the end. These two dogs, if separated, would suffer. Say what you will about dogs, but they are very loyal to the people (and animals) they love. Adopting them to separate families might even be worse for them than staying together in a shelter. Thankfully, we'll never have to know!
